Civic Center Library

Civic Center Library in Scottsdale has a great children’s section. I have been bringing my children to library since they were born. I love to read and hope my children will inherit the same desire to read! I know that building early literacy skills is important. Being comfortable around books and understanding that reading can be fun is a great starter skill that libraries can help instill in children.

At Civic Center, the children's area is geared toward all ages. The play area is partially enclosed with a giant castle and the decor is bright and inviting. It has a puppet theater, several table with trains and other hand-on toys. Throughout the children’s area computer stations are set up for use, some with internet access and some without access. There are also a few iPads and a gaming console with a game that changes every so often. Kids can also color at a few different stations, look at preserved bugs on a light table and read in several cozy nooks. A variety of story times are offered and the programs are engaging and fun. See the linked website below for specifics on time and ages for all libraries within the Scottsdale Library System.

A big plus for me is that it is set away from the other portions of the library, so your kids can talk and enjoy themselves without fear of disrupting other patrons. While kids can’t run wild like at the park, they can be creative with toys and explore the books. The library has a large, free parking structure right next to it and is stroller friendly. We highly recommend Civic Center Library!
